Pulwama, Sept 16: In a major crackdown, Pulwama Police on Tuesday arrested a woman peddler after foiling a drug smuggling attempt in Newa area and seized 120 grams of heroin-like substance from her possession.
The accused has been identified as Sheikh Maroofa, wife of Sheikh Tasaduq, a resident of Kathidarwaza Mumkhan, Rainawari, Srinagar. Police said a case under FIR No. 217/2025 has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been launched to unearth the supply chain.
Officials added that Maroofa’s husband, Sheikh Tasaduq, is already detained under PIT NDPS by Srinagar Police.
