Srinagar records 4th highest maximum temperature of all time in July at 36.2°c

Significant fall in day temperatures from tomorrow

Srinagar, July 28: Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded its 4th highest maximum temperature ever at 36.2°C. This follows the all-time high of 38.3°C on July 10, 1946, and the 2nd highest of 37°C on July 9, 1999. This unprecedented heat underscores the changing climate patterns in the region.

Meanwhile, an official from Meteorological department told Asian News Hub that brief spell of rain/thundershower is expected at isolated places in Kashmir Division and light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places in Jammu Division.

He said from tomorrow, generally cloudy with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at scattered to fairly widespread places in Kashmir Division & widespread places in Jammu Division till August 04.

In an advisory, he said intense showers for brief periods with the possibility of landslides/mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable places, and the possibility of heavy rainfall at a few places in Jammu Division.
