Srinagar, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag have solved Anantnag girl’s missing case by arresting the accused person and recovered her body from his residence.
In a media statement, police said that on March 16, Kokernag Police Station received a report about a missing girl. An investigation was launched immediately, during which technical evidence pointed to her possible abduction by Altaf Mir, a 31-year-old resident of Lawaypora, Srinagar.
An FIR was initially registered under sections 87 and 49 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “As the investigation progressed, Mir was taken into custody for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, leading police to recover the victim’s body from his residence in Lawaypora,” he said.

Following this, additional charges under sections 64 and 103 of the BNS were added to the FIR. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and forensic examination to gather further evidence.
Officials assured that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined, and the strictest punishment will be ensured against the accused and any other individuals involved.
