Srinagar, Oct 21: A major fire broke out late Monday night in Ban Mohalla Narparistan area of Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, damaging six residential-cum-commercial structures.
According to Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) officials, the blaze was reported at around 10:59 pm, and the first team reached the spot within minutes. Several fire tenders from multiple stations including Babdem, Headquarters, MR Gunj, Habakadal, Safakadal, and Rainawari were pressed into service to control the flames.
The fire caused extensive damage to the upper floors and roofing of all six structures, which were either double or three-storeyed structures. Fixed and loose furniture, furnishings, and household goods were also destroyed in the incident, while the lower floors suffered heat and water damage.

Fortunately there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident, officials said.
Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident and cause of fire is being ascertained.
