New Delhi, Aug 14: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted the Centre eight weeks to file its response to a petition seeking the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The plea challenges the continued Union Territory status of J&K following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The petitioners argue that the Centre had assured that statehood would be restored, but no timeline has been given so far.
