Srinagar, July 13: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a nowcast alert at 14:45 (02:45 pm), predicting rain and thundershowers over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir during the next 4 to 6 hours.
According to the update, rain or thunderstorms are expected in several parts of North Kashmir, many areas of Central and South Kashmir, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri, Banihal, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Doda, and Kishtwar.
The MeT Centre also warned of intense rain showers with gusty winds (30–40 km/h) in many places, especially in South Kashmir, some parts of North and Central Kashmir, Rajouri, the Banihal-Ramban belt, Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, and a few areas in Samba and Kathua.

There is also a possibility of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
People have been advised to avoid shikara riding or boating during periods of heavy rain or strong winds.
