Budgam, Nov 09: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday took a swipe at Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, remarking that no one had forced him to go abroad and that he seemed to prefer the air of Germany over that of Budgam, while asserting that he and his government are working on the ground in Budgam to address people’s concerns.
Speaking to reporters after a public event in Budgam, Omar Abdullah said, “No one can force him; he chose to go to Germany. Well, sir, he’s sitting there in Germany, perhaps he finds the air of Germany better than the air of Budgam. We prefer the air of Budgam.”
Omar added that his administration was focused on public service, unlike those who “prefer to stay abroad.” “We don’t roam around in places like Germany; we are here among our people, listening to them and addressing their issues. People didn’t elect us to sit in Germany they elected us to serve them here,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s remark comes amid growing criticism of Aga Ruhullah’s absence from local political engagements in the Valley.
“We will continue to work for the people and resolve their problems,” Omar asserted, emphasizing that his government remains committed to staying among the people who elected them.
