The consumers informed that they have been facing frequent power cuts at the time when they needed it the most.

One of the aggrieved consumers Javid Ahmad said, “While the Kashmir is facing the music of severe heatwave, the Power Development Department (PDD) on the other hand are tiring the consumers by the means of frequent power cuts. We are facing the wrath of heat.”

Ahmad further said, “It seems that there was a better electricity service before the formation of local government. Earlier, we were not facing that many power cuts.”

Another local of Nawakadal wishing anonymity said, “For most of the days, we are facing a power cut from 5Am t0o 12Pm.”

He said, “Ironically, this is not the only time we face unscheduled power cuts. We are sometimes deprived of electricity during the peak hours.”

The locals of other areas of Kashmir recounted the same affliction.

The Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD) of Jammu and Kashmir H. Rajesh Prasad was not available to comment on the issue.

The officials in previous week had informed that, “In Jammu and Kashmir, JKPDD has a power demand of nearly 3,000 Megawatts including nearly1600 MW from Jammu and around 1350-1400 MW from Kashmir division.

“As of now we are delivering more than 2800 MWs of power across Jammu and Kashmir ” the official said. (KNO)
