Jammu, May 30: Police have filed an FIR against Jammu and Kashmir Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president and MLA Mehraj Malik. He is accused of threatening, insulting, and using abusive language against a woman doctor in Doda district.

The complaint was filed by an associate professor at a government medical college. She alleged that the MLA used social media to make threats and speak in an abusive and insulting way towards her.

According to her complaint, Mehraj Malik used disturbing language like “ghaseetunga” (I will drag you) and “I will strip you naked,” which she says were meant to attack her dignity and threaten her as a female doctor working in a government hospital.

“These are not just words—they are threats to my safety and professional respect. Such statements clearly insult the modesty of a female public servant, and that too on social media,” she wrote in her complaint.

She further said that the MLA mocked her by saying, “This hospital doesn’t belong to your father.” She found this statement especially hurtful because her father passed away more than 12 years ago.

The doctor also accused Malik of entering the labour room without permission, along with his supporters, and doing a live broadcast on social media from inside. She said this act broke the privacy of female patients and staff and threatened the hospital’s security and ethical standards.

Malik has faced criticism before for using abusive language. Earlier, on March 17, 2025, a Jammu court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him in a case filed by former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, accusing Malik of making false statements. (PTI)
