Srinagar, Jan 24: Acting on growing concerns over quackery and public health risks, a joint team comprising the Tehsildar Hazratbal, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Hazratbal, Harwan Police, and medical officials inspected the residence of a Hakeem in Syedpora, Harwan. The team seized samples of Ayurvedic medicines for further laboratory analysis.
The action follows a communique from the Post-Graduate Department of Paediatrics to the Principal of Govt. Medical College, Srinagar, highlighting incidents involving patients with Acute Liver Failure (ALF).
During the past few years, there have been several cases of Acute Liver Failure (ALF), who were previously discharged from this hospital, and after leaving the hospital, they went to some place in Dara Harwan to get miracle cures, wherein they get some unproven medical treatments and some complimentary therapies and land in ICU with ALF and die, reads the communique.
Tehsildar Hazratbal, Zubair Ahmad, told ANH that this was not a raid; they only collected some samples for forensic analysis.
