Ganderbal, Aug 17: A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and killed by unknown attackers in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said on Sunday. Her elder sister, who was also abducted, managed to escape and is currently under medical care.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, the girl believed to be around 14 to 15 years old was allegedly kidnapped near her home along with her sister. Her body was later found on the Batsar–Sehpora road.
“We received information about the death of a minor girl. Initial investigation revealed she had been kidnapped near her residence. Her sister, who was also taken, managed to escape and is being treated in hospital,” SSP Poswal told reporters.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case. A case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder) has been registered. Forensic teams and investigators from Srinagar have joined the probe.
