Lineman Dies After Falling from Electric Pole in Hawal, Srinagar

Srinagar, April 21: In a heartbreaking incident, a lineman working with the Power Development Department (PDD) lost his life while performing official duties in the Hawal area of Srinagar on Monday.

Ghulam Ali Wagay, a lineman posted in the Hawal Sub Division, tragically fell from an electric pole while on duty. Eyewitnesses said he died on the spot due to the severe impact and injuries sustained from the fall.

The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Employees Union (JKEEU) confirmed the incident in a social media post, stating, “With profound sorrow, we share the tragic news that Gh. Ali Wagay… lost his life in the line of duty. His commitment and sacrifice will always be remembered.”

Colleagues and members of the community have expressed grief and demanded better safety measures and compensation for the deceased worker’s family.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident.
