Ganderbal, May 20: More than 40 sheep and goats died after lightning struck a forest area in Hariganiwan, Kangan, late last night.
Officials told that the animals belonged to Abdul Wahid Khattana, a nomad from Sunderbani, Rajouri. He is currently staying at Chechi Pati, Hariganiwan, with his livestock as part of his seasonal migration.

The lightning strike happened during a short but strong thunderstorm. The animals were out in the open and died on the spot due to the strike.
