Srinagar, Jun 14: In a major step to boost tourism, the Jammu and Kashmir government has reopened many well-known tourist places that were closed earlier due to security concerns during Operation Sandoor. This decision was announced today by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
The tourist spots that are now open again include Betab Valley, Verinag, Kokernag, Achabal Park, Badamwari in Srinagar, Neegan Park, Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal, and several public parks in the Jammu region. These places were temporarily shut for safety reasons. After a detailed security review by police and intelligence teams, it was found safe to allow visitors again.
While speaking on the occasion, LG Manoj Sinha said, “Bringing life back to normal while ensuring safety of the people is our top priority. This decision shows that the situation on the ground has improved. We welcome people to visit these beautiful places in our Union Territory.”
Security arrangements have been made stronger at all these locations. Police, paramilitary forces, and local officials will be present to make sure everything stays safe. CCTV cameras and other security systems have also been activated.

The tourism industry has welcomed the move. Local businessmen, hotel owners, and travel agents are hopeful that this will attract more tourists, especially before the Amarnath Yatra and upcoming festivals.
Authorities have also requested tourists to stay alert and cooperate with security teams. Events and gatherings will restart slowly after regular safety checks.
This reopening is seen as a positive step towards peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. The government has promised to keep monitoring the situation and respond quickly if needed.
