Formed in 2007, when Kulgam was declared a separate district, KWJA has been working toward building a professional, ethical, and collaborative media environment.

The association said that the oath-taking ceremony will be held separately in Kulgam, during which the remaining office-bearers will be formally inducted.

The newly elected body pledged to take up issues concerning working journalists, ensure adherence to journalistic ethics, and create a conducive environment for responsible journalism.

The association also welcomed new journalists from the district and stated that anyone wishing to join the association must be working with a registered media platform.

Journalists from Kulgam expressed gratitude to the election organising committee for conducting a transparent and democratic election.
