Kulgam, Jan 21: A woman has succumbed 17 days after her son passed away due to a suffocation incident in the Gudder area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
Quoting an official news agency JKNS reported that, a woman who was hospitalised due to suffocation on January 2, succumbed to her injuries 17 days after her son passed away following the incident in Gudder.
The deceased, Fameeda Akhter, and her 25-year-old son, Nisar Ahmad Khan, were found unconscious on January 2 at their home in Gudder due to suffocation caused by charcoal fire fumes, they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred them to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

“Unfortunately, Nisar Ahmad lost his life two days after the incident, and despite prolonged treatment, his mother, Fameeda Akhter, passed away today,” they added.
A total of 19 deaths were reported across Jammu and Kashmir due to asphyxiation, with today’s death the total death toll due to suffocation rises to 20.
