Srinagar, July 4: People in Jammu and Kashmir must start adapting to rising temperatures, as global warming is making heatwaves and dry spells more frequent, according to weather expert Faizan Arif from Kashmir Weather.
Global warming refers to the gradual increase in Earth’s temperature due to pollution and greenhouse gases, which is now affecting weather patterns around the world, including in Kashmir.
He said that continuing to extend summer vacations due to heat is not a good idea. “It affects children’s education. A 15-day summer break is enough for rest and recovery,” he said.

Arif advised people to stay indoors during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and follow heatwave safety guidelines.
He also warned that water scarcity is becoming the biggest threat for the region. “Climate change cannot be reversed now. We need to take quick steps to adapt to this changing climate,” he added.
