Jammu, Dec 24: In a landmark decision, University of Jammu inked Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Racemix Molecules Pvt. Ltd, Gurugram, Haryana, India (A subsidiary of Anphar Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Jammu). Anphar Laboratories Pvt Ltd. is engaged in the manufacturing and export of bulk drugs. JU created Industry Academia Partnership Centre (IAPC) under RUSA 2.0 to build industry-academia partnership and to inculcate industry based skills in the students and researchers of the University. For realizing these objectives, JU has entered into collaboration with Racemix; the latter will provide skill based training at JU and its affiliated colleges.

Further, emphasis will be laid on developing process for drugs and intermediates which are imported from other countries. In order to strengthen the resolve of Government of India of “Atamanirbhar Bharat’, the University conceptualized to enter into Industry Academia partnership to develop scientific skills as well as systematically include additional development and training that will enable researchers to deep dive into business needs, meet senior leaders and develop practical solutions to industry issues and become potential entrepreneurs.


The MoU was signed by Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar University of Jammu, Dr. Rajesh Thaper and Mr Anil Gupta, Directors, Racemix Molecules Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and Chief Guest of the function. Prof. Dhar emphasized that this is a historical event for the University of Jammu and was happy to share that after overcoming all obstacles the University was able to develop a mechanism to introduce IAPC to bridge the gap between Academia and Industry. He thanked Dr. Rajesh Thaper and Mr Anil Gupta Directors, Racemix Molecules Pvt. Ltd. for showing faith in the University. Prof Dhar apprised the audience about the significance of taking this collaboration to the next level wherein university can collaborate with the industry in the areas of curriculum development and delivery through partnership models which include apprenticeships, hands-on training, real-life simulations and specialised employer training programmes, teaching and learning, research and development, consultancy as well as securing suitable industrial placements for students.

University of Jammu engaging with industry players will benefit students in terms of acquiring skills and knowledge and researchers will also gain from technology transfer and commercialisation. He showed his gratitude and appreciated the role played by MHRD for strengthening the University curriculum by sanctioning the grants under RUSA. Further he said, MOU will play a pivotal role in building industry and skill based training programs at the JU, which will significantly improve employability and self entrepreneurship in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs and Coordinator RUSA 2.0 emphasized that such partnership shall help in curriculum reforms to develop entrepreneurship and inclination towards applied research among the students. Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar University of Jammu expressed satisfaction over the progress of the University in initiating the MoU first of its kind. He said the partnership would give fillip to the young researchers and motivate them towards innovation and patent filing.

Dr. Rajesh Thapar, Director, Racemix Molecules Pvt. Ltd. thanked the Vice chancellor for extending the opportunity to enter into the MOU. He said that Universities are the main talent pipeline for the industry, thus it is crucial for industries also to partner with academic institutions. Collaboration between universities and industries is critical to accelerate students’ skills development, enhance their industry exposure as well promote participation and engagement via learning. Needless to mention here that Dr Thappar is also an Alumnus of University of Jammu.


Earlier, Prof. Kamal K. Kapoor, Convener, IAPC welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the very concept of creating IAPC and signing of MOU. He informed that the Centre is not only striving to emerge as a trusted R&D partner but is also expecting numerous benefits via the enhancement of research and innovation through joint research projects, delivery of innovative commercial products, improvement in teaching, learning and enrichment of student’s knowledge and their employability, as well as providing new streams of funding. Researchers will get to collaborate with industry players to take their research products to another level where their product will be visible in the market and reach the end user via commercialisation.


Ceremony was also attended by Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, Prof. Rajni Kant, Dean Faculty of Sciences and Controller of Examinations, Prof. Vinay Chauhan, Dean Placement and OSD to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Deans of various faculties, Er Ankit Gupta, Director, Racemix Molecules Pvt Ltd and members of IAPC. The event concluded with pledge to work in coherence by JU and Racemix to achieve the objectives of the IAPC under the slogan “Strive not to survive but to Thrive” while vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Sanjay Gupta, Department of Law.
