Srinagar, Oct 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to organize “Run for Peace” Kashmir Marathon – 2022 event at Srinagar on 16th October, (Sunday) under its Civic Action Programme.
Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha shall be the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event “Run for Peace” Kashmir Marathon – 2022 shall be organized under the patronage of Dilbag Singh-IPS DGP J&K whereas S.J.M Gillani-IPS ADGP Armed J&K is the Chairman of the organizing committee of the event and Shahid Mehraj-IPS DIG Armed/ IR Kashmir Range is the organizing Secretary of the event.
The event shall take place at Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar.
The Flag-off ceremony of the Kashmir Marathon shall take place at 0500 hours on October 16, 2022 (Sunday) from Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar and flag-in ceremony shall take place at 1045 hours on the same day at Police Golf Course Boulevard Road Srinagar.
Approximately 3000 athletes from J&K UT including professional athletes from outside J&K UT are expected to participate in the 9 categories of the said event.
For registration of the athletes who are interested to participate in the said event, 9 registration counters have already been established at J&K UT w.e.f October 06, 2022 at different locations viz: SDPO Office Nehru Park, Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar, S.K Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar, Kashmir University, Gindun ground Rajbagh Srinagar, Police Public School Bemina, Gulshan Ground Jammu, M.A Stadium Jammu and Jammu University. All the athletes interested to participate in the Kashmir Marathon – 2022 at Srinagar have been instructed to collect their registration forms at the aforesaid registration counters.
The registered participants of the event shall have to assemble at Lalit Ghat, the venue of Flag-Off ceremony at 0500 hours on October 16, 2022 for their scrutiny and distribution of Chest Numbers to them by the officials of the organizing committee of the event. An amount of Rs 7.31 Lakhs has been earmarked as prize money for winners of nine different categories in the event.
Earmarked, distance for the participants of the event/ route and cash prizes to the winners of the nine different categories shall be bifurcated as: (1) 21 Kms Half Marathon (Men) to be flagged-off at 0645 hours from LVPGC to Duck Park (near Sewerage Treatment Plant Crossing) and back, first three position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 75,000/-, Rs 50,000/- and Rs 30,000/- respectively; (2) 21 Kms Half Marathon for Professional Athletes (Men) to be flagged-off at 0645 hours from LVPGC to Duck Park (near Sewerage Treatment Plant Crossing) and back, first three position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/- and Rs 5,000/- respectively; (3) 10 Kms Road Race (Open for Boys) Under 18 Years to be flagged-off at 0647 hours from LVPGC to Shah Kashmir Valley Arts Showroom near (Mosque) Nishat Garden and back, first three position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 50,000/-, Rs 40,000/- and Rs 25,000/- respectively; (4) 10 Kms Road Race (Open for Girls) above 14 Years to be flagged-off at 0647 hours from LVPGC to Shah Kashmir Valley Arts Showroom near (Mosque) Nishat Garden and back, first three position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 50,000/-, Rs 40,000/- and Rs 25,000/- respectively; (5) 08 Kms Veteran (Men) above 45 years to be flagged-off at 0649 hours from LVPGC to Ghat No.25 and back, first three position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5000/- respectively; (6) 05 Kms Sub-Junior (Boys) Under 14 Years to be flagged-off at 0651 hours from LVPGC to Ghat No.23 near Makai Park and back, first five position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 25,000/-, Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5000/- and the next five position holders ranking from 6th to 10th position shall be presented Rs 2000/- each; (7) 04 Kms Sub-Junior (Girls) Under 14 Years to be flagged-off at 0653 hours from LVPGC to Botanical Garden Crossing and back, first five position holders shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 25,000/-, Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5000/- and the next five position holders ranking from 6th to 10th position shall be presented Rs 2000/- each; (8) 02 Kms for Specially Challenged (Men/ Women) to be flagged-off at 0655 hours from LVPGC to SKICC Main Gate and back, first five position holders each from men and women category shall be presented handsome cash prizes of Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/-, Rs 5000/- and Rs 3000/- and (9) 02 Kms Run for fun (Open for All) Senior Citizens/ Children to be flagged-off at 0657 hours from LVPGC to SKICC Main Gate and back the winners of the event shall be presented consolation awards only.
All the Nodal Officers have been directed to start necessary preparations immediately to make the event a grand success. A review meeting of the organizers/ connected officials in connection with the “Run for Peace” Kashmir Marathon – 2022 Run for Peace shall be held on October 15, 2022 at 0130 hours at Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar.
Besides, on the conclusion of “Run for Peace” Kashmir Marathon – 2022 and Prize Distribution ceremony, a Raffle Draw of Chest Nos of the participants shall also be conducted in which 1st prize of Rs 15000/-, 2nd prize Rs 10,000/- and 3rd prize Rs 5000/- shall be presented to the Raffle Draw winners.
