Baramulla, July 08: Baramulla Police have arrested a JCB driver involved in unauthorized excavation work at the Delina graveyard, an incident that sparked public outrage and unrest on July 7.

According to statement issued by Baramulla Police, the driver had fled the scene after a large crowd confronted him over the illegal digging activity. After sustained efforts, the accused was tracked down and taken into custody on Tuesday.

His arrest follows the earlier detention of the contractor associated with the same excavation work. Both are now facing legal action under FIR No. 124/2025 registered at Police Station Baramulla.

Police have assured that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances and responsibilities behind the incident. Authorities are also maintaining law and order in the area and are in regular contact with community leaders to ensure peace.

Meanwhile, officials have urged the public not to spread rumors or unverified information and to rely only on official sources for updates.

Baramulla Police reiterated their commitment to preserving communal harmony and public safety, asking citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
