Srinagar, July 22: The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather alert for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of intense rain showers and gusty winds in several districts over the next 4 to 6 hours.
As per the update issued at 12:30 local time, intermittent rain and thunderstorms are likely in many parts of North, Central, and South Kashmir, including Banihal, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, and Kishtwar.
The MET Centre Srinagar has also predicted heavy rainfall and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) in isolated areas of Kupwara, Handwara, Baramulla, Central Kashmir, Banihal-Ramban stretch, Doda, and Kathua.

Due to these weather conditions, there is a possibility of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
Authorities have advised people to avoid Shikara rides and boating during the period of intense showers and strong winds.
