Srinagar, Sep 03: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast widespread rain across Jammu and Kashmir today, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of the Jammu division and moderate to heavy showers in South Kashmir till late afternoon. A gradual improvement in weather is expected thereafter.
From September 4 to 7, the weather office has predicted brief spells of rain and thunder at a few places, with moderate showers likely in some parts of Jammu division. Another spell of moderate rain is expected between late September 8 and the morning of September 9, mainly over Jammu division, followed by stable weather until September 11 evening.

Authorities have cautioned that heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas. A significant rise in water levels is also likely in the Jhelum, Tawi, and other rivers, along with flooding in low-lying areas.
People have been advised to stay away from water bodies, river embankments, and unstable structures, and to remain alert and updated with the latest weather advisories.
