Handwara, April 12: In the wake of the tragic bus accident in Vodpora, Handwara, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Rs 1 lakh each for the families of the deceased students, Rs 50,000 for those severely injured, and Rs 25,000 for others injured in the mishap.
The announcement was made by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, who said the administration stands in solidarity with the affected families and is committed to ensuring all possible help and support.
Earlier in the day, two students—Tabasum Mushtaq and Mymooma—lost their lives in the accident, while Saima Nazir remains critically injured. Twelve others are under treatment at GMC Handwara.

Advisor Wani also visited GMC Handwara and assured that the government is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide necessary assistance.
The tragic accident occurred when a college picnic bus carrying 27 students and staff overturned on the way to Srinagar, leaving the entire region in mourning.
