Handwara, April 12: The tragic college picnic accident in Handwara has claimed a second life, raising the death toll to two. Mymoona, a 21-year-old student, succumbed to her injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar this morning.
Another student, Saima Nazir, also 21, remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at SMHS.
Earlier in the day, Tabasum Mushtaq, a student of GDC Sogam, died on the spot after the college bus overturned in the Vodpora area of Handwara. The vehicle, carrying 27 students and staff, was reportedly heading towards Srinagar when the driver lost control, causing it to overturn.

Fourteen injured students were taken to GMC Handwara, while others received first aid at the scene. Despite efforts by doctors, Mymooma couldn’t be saved.
Rescue teams, police, and locals responded promptly and helped move the injured to nearby hospitals.
Authorities have initiated a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
