Srinagar, Sept 17: Shopian MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay has launched a scathing attack on the civil administration, accusing it of complete failure and suggesting that Kashmir be directly handed over to the Army.
Furious over the endless closure of the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway, Kullay said people are being pushed to the wall while officials sit idle. “The Army laid a bridge over Tawi in Jammu within 12 hours. When there is will, nothing is impossible. If you want Kashmir to function, hand it over to the Army—at least there will be no politics,” he told reporters.
The Srinagar–Jammu highway, the Valley’s lifeline, has remained shut repeatedly due to landslides and shooting stones, leaving fruit-laden trucks stranded, businesses bleeding, and essentials running short.

Kullay blasted the government’s “criminal negligence,” saying farmers, traders, and common commuters are suffering every single day. “People are starving, livelihoods are crumbling, but officials keep hiding behind excuses. The Army delivers in hours, our administration fails for weeks. This is the ugly truth,” he said. (KNT)
