Jammu, Jul 21: Government College Of Education,Jammu celebrates Van Mahotsav in collaboration with NSS Unit, Nature club of GCOE and Department of Social Forestry Jammu on Thursday.

An event on the occasion of “Van Mahotsav” was organized at Government College Of Education, Jammu in collaboration with NSS unit Nature club of GCOE and Department of Social Forestry, Jammu.

Mr. Roshan Jaggi, IFS,Director social Forestry (PCCF), Mr. Mohinder Gupta ,Regional Director and Mr. Alok Kumar Maurya ,IFS (DFO), Ms.Shweta (DFO) and Mr.Shoaib (DFO) were the chief guests on the occasion.

A plantation cum polythene free campus drive was inaugurated by Mr. Roshan Jaggi,IFS ,Director Social Forestry where about 100 plants were planted by the students of GCOE in the presence of the distinguished guests and worthy Principal Dr. Kulvinder Kour. Seed balls were also distributed among the NSS volunteers.

The programme started with Saraswati Vandana followed by Lamp lighting ceremony.

The students recited poetry and gave speeches highlighting why the conservation of forests is the need of the hour.

The Chief Guest stressed upon the importance of trees and the practical steps to be taken for environmental sustainability. He laid focus on action oriented approach to conserve forests.
Dr. Kulvinder kour,Principal GCOE also spoke on the occasion.

NSS Unit along with their teachers Dr. Shubhra Jamwal , Prof. Shapia Shameem Bhatti, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Satish Sharma ,Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof.Seema sharma, Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Dr. Shalini Sharma,Dr. Sushma Bala and Prof. Mansi Sharma actively participated in the highly successful event.
