Srinagar, Oct 02: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants at Baskuchan village in Imamsahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.

Reports reaching The Asian News Hub, said that the joint of team of Security Forces launched a Cordon-and-Search (CASO) after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

They said as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Meanwhile intermittent firing was going on when this report was filed.

“Encounter has started at Baskuchan area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
