Top officials of the Higher Education Department told the news agency—KNO, that the students must not pay heed to the rumors regarding the closure of colleges.

The official said, “In Jammu and Kashmir, colleges are functioning normally even the management of the all colleges are ensuring adherence of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).”

“There is no such proposal of closing the colleges here and the Higher Education Department is constantly monitoring the COVID-19 cases among the students and the staff members,” the official said.

It is pertinent to mention that on March-15, at least three students of Womens College Srinagar were tested positive for COVID-19 and on March-07, authorities ordered closure of Islamia College of Science and Commerce till March-13 following the outbreak of COVID-19 among its two faculty members.

The colleges in Kashmir valley resumed physical academic activities on February-15 after a gap of nearly eleven months.
