Srinagar, Oct 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that the four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora Junction, spanning 7 km with a sanctioned cost of 700 crore, is among the 19 projects approved for the Union Territory.
The government added that survey and design work is currently underway, while the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and related technical investigations are in progress.
Responding to un-starred question No. 314 raised by MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, the Minister in- Charge, Public Works (R&B) Department as per news agency KINS stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), in its meeting held on June 19, 2025, approved the Action Plan for 2025–26, which includes 19 national highway projects for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Among these projects is the “4-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora Junction on NH-1 in Srinagar City,” spanning 7 kilometers and estimated to cost 700 crore.
According to the department, a topographical survey and geotechnical investigation, including Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC) studies at key intersections, are currently being conducted across the proposed stretch. The department further informed that the final alignment, plan, and profile (P&P) of the flyover are under preparation.

“The draft copy shall be submitted to the Ministry for approval as per prerequisites, so that the structural design including plan and profile is finalized and submitted to the Ministry for final sanction before the work is put to tender and taken up for execution,” the reply stated.(KINS)
