Budgam, Aug 12: The youth who was critically injured after receiving an electric shock while bathing in a spring in Ichgam area of Budgam district on August 5 has succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
The deceased has been identified as Adfar Ahmad Mir, son of Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, a student.
The incident occurred when two persons came in contact with live wires after a low-tension electric line snapped near the spring. One of them, identified as Zeeshan Ahmad, had died on the spot, while Adfar was shifted to SMHS Hospital in critical condition.
Hospital sources confirmed that Adfar passed away during treatment on Tuesday, raising the death toll in the incident to two.

Local residents have expressed grief over the loss and urged authorities to carry out timely maintenance of electric lines to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Cabinet minister, Sakina Itoo along with Local MLA, and Deputy Commissioner Budgam, also visited Ichgam and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
