Srinagar, May 29: The body of a youth who reportedly jumped into River Jhelum from the New Zainakadal Bridge in Srinagar on Monday (May 26) has been recovered today, three days after the incident.
According to reports, an unidentified person was seen jumping into the river in an apparent suicide attempt. Upon receiving the information, a rescue operation was immediately launched by personnel from Police Station M.R. Gunj, with assistance from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and River Police.
During the preliminary investigation, the individual was identified as 30-year-old salesman, (name withheld) from the Kawdara area of Srinagar.

Today, after continuous search efforts, the body was retrieved from the Jhelum River in the Khreshbal Noorbagh area of Srinagar.
Rescue teams from the SDRF, River Police, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were part of the multi-agency operation that lasted for three days.
Further legal formalities are being completed.
