Baramulla, July 08: The body of youth who had drowned while bathing two days ago in the Jhelum River near Jetty, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, was recovered this morning after continuous efforts by rescue teams.
Officials told that the deceased was identified as Uzair Ahmad Ganaie, son of Mohammad Arif Ganaie, a resident of Sherwani Colony, Baramulla.
Uzair drowned while bathing near the riverbank on Sunday (July 6), triggering a joint search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local volunteers, and Baramulla Police. His body was recovered from the same area this morning.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
It is important to mention that this is the fourth such teenage drowning incident in Baramulla district during the summer vacation. (JKNS)
