Body of Rainawari Youth Retrieved After Dal Lake Tragedy

Srinagar, May 03: The body of a 24-year-old youth from Chopan Mohalla, Rainawari, was retrieved on Saturday morning, a day after he drowned in Dal Lake while attempting to save his employer during a windstorm.

Identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Choupan, he had jumped into the water to rescue Majeed Khosa after their boat capsized amid strong gusty winds.

While Khosa was rescued, Taufeeq was swept away by the current. His body was recovered after an intensive search operation by locals along with the help of SDRF and police.

The incident has triggered widespread grief in Rainawari and surrounding areas.
