The bodies recovered today include Ahmad Bin Khalid (12) of Hyderpora and Haji Mehnaz Rashid Shah (40) of Khanyar, Srinagar. Both had gone missing on Sunday after being swept away by strong river currents while attempting to rescue children who slipped into the Jhelum near the NHPC canal.

One person had been rescued on the same day, while the body of another minor was recovered earlier. With the recovery of these two remaining bodies, the multi-agency search operation has officially concluded.

The rescue effort involved the SDRF Baramulla, Civil Defence Uri, J&K Police, and local volunteers, who continued their efforts for over 36 hours. SHO Boniyar confirmed the conclusion of the operation and said all medico-legal formalities are being completed before handing over the bodies to the families.

The tragic incident has sparked concerns and renewed calls for public caution around water bodies, especially during recreational visits.
