Srinagar, Oct 20: The annual Urs of the revered saint Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA), popularly known as Nund Rishi, was observed with deep devotion and reverence at the historic shrine of Charar-i-Sharief in Kashmir.
Thousands of devotees thronged the shrine, spending the night in prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, remembrance of Allah, and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Pilgrims from across the Valley arrived in large groups to pay homage at the shrine. During the afternoon prayers on Monday, the courtyard of the shrine was filled with worshippers offering congregational prayers.
Reports said that this year’s Urs witnessed a higher turnout of devotees compared to previous years. Religious scholars and spiritual leaders delivered sermons throughout the night, highlighting the teachings of Hazrat Nund Rishi (RA). They said that Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) dedicated his life to spreading the message of peace, love, humanity, and tolerance across Kashmir. His teachings continue to inspire social harmony, mutual respect, and spiritual awakening.

Known by the titles Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) and Sheikh-ul-Alam, Hazrat Nund Rishi devoted his life to piety, service to humanity, and the promotion of unity among people.
On this occasion, the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Budgam District Administration, and local police made extensive arrangements for the convenience of devotees. The Waqf Board provided lighting, drinking water, sanitation facilities, medical aid, and temporary tents for accommodation. The district police and traffic department implemented a special traffic management plan, deploying additional personnel at entry and exit points to ensure smooth movement.
Officials said the administration had introduced improved facilities this year, including enhanced cleanliness measures, while the Health Department established a temporary medical camp near the shrine.
The Urs concluded with a special congregational prayer led by religious scholars, seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for Jammu and Kashmir and the entire Muslim Ummah.
