Srinagar, Aug 10: In a major step to curb plastic pollution, the District Office of the Jammu & Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC), Srinagar, seized 3.50 metric tons of prohibited polythene during an enforcement raid in the Tengpora area of Srinagar.
The operation, conducted in coordination with local authorities, uncovered polythene banned under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. The seized material will be disposed of safely as per environmental norms.

District Officer JKPCC Srinagar stressed that using, storing, or distributing prohibited polythene violates ban orders and causes severe environmental harm. He urged traders, shopkeepers, and the public to switch to eco-friendly alternatives to help combat plastic pollution.
