New Delhi, May 09: Drones have been sighted at 26 sensitive locations stretching from Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, along both the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, defence sources told ANI on Friday. These include suspected armed drones, raising concerns over potential threats to both civilian and military targets.
Key locations where drone activity has been observed include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
In a serious incident, an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, causing severe injuries to members of a local family. Security forces quickly sanitised the area and provided medical assistance to the injured.
“The Indian Armed Forces are on high alert and continue to monitor and engage all aerial threats using counter-drone systems. The situation remains under constant watch, and necessary action is being taken promptly,” ANI reported quoting defence sources.
Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in border areas, to remain indoors, restrict unnecessary movement, and adhere strictly to safety protocols. While there is no cause for panic, officials stressed the need for heightened vigilance and public cooperation.
