A major tragedy was averted by 44 RR of Indian Army and Shopian Police after they detected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Imamsahib area of Shopian on Friday evening.

The IED was planted in a pressure cooker and was just 50 meters away from Police Station Imamsahib and COB 44 RR.
The IED is approximately weighing near about 10 kg, which was planted in a pressure cooker along roadside, alert solidiers of 44 RR along with Imamsahib Police detected the IED and the bomb disposal squad was subsequently called to defuse the IED.

Searches are being carried out by a joint team of security forces in the area.
