In order to help the women/girls in distress such as facing harassment or any kind of abuse or violence, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani Tuesday inaugurated Women Police Station at District Police Lines Pulwama.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Pulwama said that the crime against women is the most aggressive violation of human rights and that the victims often experience a sense of emotional numbness that could result in her taking drastic and fatal decisions.
A police spokesman in a statement issued, said that SSP Pulwama also interacted with the officers /officials of the said Police Station and directed them to work with enthusiasm, zeal, dedication and maintain professional integrity while addressing the grievances reported to them by any women victim.
“The Women Police Station will provide an opportunity to the women of the respective areas to come forward more freely to report crime as they would be able to express more comfortably. The women Police officers/officials looking after the matters of the victim should have to be sensitive and enough to understand the grievances of the female victims. The purpose behind the opening of the Women Police Station is to provide a better environment to women.”
Meanwhile, police said that police is committed to ensure peace in the society and to end the menace of domestic violence from the society.
