Srinagar, Jul 19: Srinagar Police have arrested eight gamblers in Babademb area, stake money of Rs 35500 also recovered.
In a statement issued here, a Police spokesman said that on a tip off by a diligent citizen, a gambling site was raided at Babademb area and four gamblers were apprehended on spot. Also stake money of RS 22000 and playing cards were recovered, however, taking advantage of marshy land, few of them managed to escape. In this regard case FIR No. 39/ 2022 under section 13 of Gambling act was registered at Khanyar Police station and investigation was taken up.
During the investigation, four more gamblers were arrested and stake money of Rs13500 was recovered from them. With this, a total of Rs 35500 was recovered in the instant case and 8 gamblers have been arrested.

Srinagar police urges all responsible citizens to come forward with any clues regarding social evils like gambling etc. Their identity will be kept confidential, the spokesman added.
