‘MRCC’s Khurshid declared Man of the Match’

Srinagar, Sept 21: In the ongoing Sathergund Premier League, Mirjanpora Riders Cricket Club (MRCC) beat Pantha Chowk Warriors by 7 runs in a cliffhanger.

Batting first after losing the toss MRCC posted a total of 145 runs and in reply Pantha Chowk Warriors fell short by just 7 runs thanks to the brilliant last over by Khurshid Ahmad.

Khurshid defended 8 runs in the last over, when he bowled a sensational maiden over and also claimed two wickets including a runout.

In the post match presentation Khurshid Ahmad was unanimously declared as player of the match.

Former Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf dies of cardiac arrest

Srinagar, Sept 15: Former Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf, who was a part of the ICC Elite Panel from 2006 to 2013, died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Lahore. He was 66.

“Saddened to hear about passing of Asad Rauf. Not only was he a good umpire but also had a wicked sense of humour. He always put a smile on my face and will continue to do so whenever I think about him. Many sympathies with his family for their loss,” Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja tweeted.

Rauf played 71 First Class matches, scoring 3423 runs. He played 40 List A matches, scoring 611 runs

Grand Warriors Academy won six medals in UT Pencak Silat Cup-2022

Srinagar, Sept 13: Grand Warriors Academy of Martial Arts won six medals in various categories at the 3-Days J&K UT Pencak Silat Cup 2022 championship, which attracted more than 900 athletes from various clubs and districts in Jammu and Kashmir.

3-Days J&K UT Pencak Silat Cup 2022 was held at Indoor Sports Hall Polo ground, Srinagar. The event was organized by Pencak Silat Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K sports council under the banner of “My Youth My Pride”.

In the event, the 6-member team of Grand Warriors from Srinagar led by the team Coach Adil Hussain Khan, won 6 medals in different weight categories.

Grand Warriors coach Adil Hussain said, “I frequently heard about a few upsetting events involving young girls and even elderly women, which is the main motivation behind this martial arts school. Whether it was eve teasing or stalking, these occurrences inspired me to start a martial arts school where women could learn how to protect themselves from bullies.

I’m grateful to Mr. Rouf, the academy’s president, for providing us the space to teach martial arts in L. P. School, he added.

The Grand Warriors who won medals in the 3-Days J&K UT Pencak Silat Cup 2022 include, Shahid Hilal who bagged the gold medal, Muntaha and Rizwan took the Silver medal, while as Peer Naveed, Khushboo and Mohadis won the bronze medal.
