Srinagar, Sept 19: Birthday greetings poured in today for Srinagar MP and senior National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, with national leaders including Lok Sabha Speaker and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari extending wishes.
But notably, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has not wished him till now. The silence has triggered strong speculation in political circles, especially since Omar had recently greeted his advisor and party provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani on his birthday.

The absence of greetings comes at a time when the NC is already grappling with open discord. Just a day ago, Education Minister Sakina Itoo openly questioned Ruhullah’s performance as an MP, accusing him of failing to deliver despite being elected on a party ticket.
Ruhullah, however, hit back hard, highlighting his interventions in Parliament and taking a veiled dig at party colleagues, saying those who have “bent their back in obedience” cannot recognize the efforts of those “fighting oppression.”
