Srinagar, July 14: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed strong disapproval over the treatment of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who was reportedly stopped from visiting the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Srinagar.
In a post on X, Banerjee questioned the move, saying, “What is wrong in visiting the graveyard of martyrs? This is not only unfortunate, it also snatches the democratic right of a citizen.”
She further wrote, “What happened this morning to an elected Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah is unacceptable. Shocking. Shameful.”
Meanwhile, MLA Sajad Lone said the incident looked like a “scripted drama” and urged Omar Abdullah to step down to preserve the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office.
