Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 07 (ANH): Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Monday alleged that some senior government officials in Uttar Pradesh were working as agents of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said his party has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission.

He accused the officers of putting pressure on their juniors to vote for the BJP and warning that otherwise action would be taken against them

Addressing a press conference here, Akhilesh Yadav said: “From the very first day I am saying that some officials are working as agents and workers of the BJP. We have lodged complaints with the EC several times but no action has been taken so far”, UNI reported.

He also alleged foul play in postal ballots.

“In Fatehabad in Agra, a specially-abled voter pointed out that his vote was wrongly cast. When the villagers raised objections, another team of the officers went there and tried to convince them that only one vote had gone waste. They are indulging in foul play.”

He alleged that officers who were pleasing the government have been rewarded with BJP ticket to contest the elections, as per UNI.

“They have taken a large number of voter identity cards which will be used to cast votes. Senior officers are pressuring their subordinates that if they won’t cast votes as per their will action will be taken against the juniors,” he said.

“I hope the (Election) Commission will take cognizance,” he said.

He also accused BJP leaders of lying. “BJP leaders are lying continuously. No one can lie more than the BJP.”

Akhilesh Yadav said: “They talk about improved law and order situation but the NCRB data presents a different picture. Women are most unsafe in UP. The state tops in custodial deaths and fake encounters.”

In Saharanpur, which is famous for its wooden work, Akhilesh Yadav said he set up a ‘Wood Craft Development Export Promotion Forum to help businessmen and artisans if the Samajwadi Party takes power.

He reiterated his pledge to give 300 units electricity to domestic consumers, free irrigation and corpus fund for the payment to cane farmers and restoring the old pension system for government employees. “This time the BJP will be cleaned after elections.”
