A sub-inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police was injured after being attacked by armed men on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening, officials said.
The incident took place at Gurrah Morh around 8:30 pm when Sub-Inspector Nitin Khajuria, posted at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, was stopped and assaulted by four individuals travelling in a Thar vehicle, a police spokesperson said.
The assailants, armed with a sharp-edged weapon, attacked the officer causing injuries. They also reportedly brandished a pistol before fleeing the scene.

Two of the accused have been identified as Rishab and Munna D, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining two accomplices, police said.
The injured sub-inspector was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for treatment. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress. (With inputs from PTI)
