Srinagar, April 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Jammu and Kashmir on April 19 for the inauguration of the Katra-Srinagar Rail Link (USBRL) project has been postponed.
Sources privy to the development told news agency JKNS that the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister has been postponed.
“The visit scheduled for April 19 has been postponed. A new date will be communicated later,” a top official told JKNS, however, remained tight-lipped about the reason behind the postponement.
The USBRL project, one of the most strategically important infrastructure projects in the region, connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India through a railway network that includes the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River, along with a series of tunnels and long-span bridges across the Pir Panjal range.

The project is seen as a major milestone for J&K’s connectivity and development, with far-reaching implications for tourism, the economy, and transportation in the region.
The railway line has already been tested successfully, and preparations for the inaugural ceremony had reached the final stage. Top railway officials and security agencies were coordinating to ensure the smooth execution of the high-profile event. (JKNS)
