Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has won the trust vote in Parliament. Imran Khan won the no-confidence motion by 178 votes.
(Asian News Hub) – Imran Khan won the no-confidence motion by 178 votes. Imran Khan had sought a vote of confidence in a bid to restore the legitimacy of his government after the Opposition mounted pressure on him to resign.
Imran Khan had on Thursday announced that he will seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly after his finance minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh was defeated in the closely-fought Senate election on Wednesday. The Opposition demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation after the debacle.
The floor test took place without the Opposition as the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Friday decided to boycott the vote of confidence on Khan’s government. The special National Assembly (NA) session was convened on the directives of President Arif Alvi.
