Tehran, Apr 25: Iranian officials reported that over 30 million people have signed up for the state-backed “Janfada” (“Sacrificing Life”) campaign, which aims to increase popular readiness to protect the Islamic Republic, in a startling demonstration of national mobilisation.

Launched in March 2026, the campaign called on citizens to voluntarily declare their preparedness to support Iran’s national security efforts in the face of what officials describe as external threats, particularly from the United States and Israel.

The rapidly rising number of registrations—now crossing the 30 million mark—has been projected by supporters as a reflection of widespread patriotism and unity across the country.

Importantly, campaign guidelines specify that individuals below the age of 12 are not eligible to participate, with registration primarily open to all citizens capable of contributing in various capacities. Authorities have framed this stipulation as part of a structured and organised approach to mobilisation.

Officials and state-linked media describe the initiative not merely as a recruitment effort, but as a broader national movement rooted in the ideals of sacrifice, sovereignty, and collective responsibility.

Messaging associated with “Janfada” highlights themes of resilience and readiness, invoking Iran’s historical experience of popular mobilisation during times of crisis.
The campaign has also reached beyond Iran’s borders, with outreach directed at the Iranian diaspora through dedicated online platforms and communication networks.

This expansion underscores efforts to build a global sense of solidarity among Iranians, regardless of location.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly expressed support for the initiative, aligning himself with millions who have pledged readiness to defend the nation.

Officials suggest that participation spans diverse segments of society, portraying the campaign as a unifying force during a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
While international observers have offered varied interpretations of the campaign’s scale and intent, within Iran it continues to be presented as a powerful symbol of national cohesion.
