Srinagar, Aug 08: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday rejected allegations that he supported the recent ban on several books in Jammu and Kashmir, clarifying that the order was issued by the Lieutenant Governor through the Home Department.
In a post on social media platform X, Omar Abdullah posted “Get your facts right before you call me a coward, you ignoramus. The ban has been imposed by the LG using the only department he officially controls the Home Department. I’ve never banned books and I never would.”
His remarks came after online backlash over raids on bookstores and the prohibition of titles accused of containing “anti-national” content. (KNS)
