New Delhi, May 14: In a significant development, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully secured the return of Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw from Pakistan today. The handover took place at 10:30 AM at the Joint Check Post (JCP) in Attari, near the Wagah border.
Constable Shaw had inadvertently crossed over into Pakistani territory on April 23, 2025, while on operational duty in the Ferozepur sector. He was apprehended by Pakistani Rangers at approximately 11:50 AM that day and remained in their custody until his release today.

BSF officials attributed the successful repatriation to sustained diplomatic efforts, including regular flag meetings and consistent communication with the Pakistan Rangers.
“The return of Constable Shaw highlights the effectiveness of continued engagement and dialogue between the two border forces,” said a BSF spokesperson.
